Salary: $105,000–$138,000

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related activities. This individual will play a key role in the monthly close process, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and accounting process improvements. Our client is open to a Sr. Accountant who is ready for that next step, or someone with prior supervisory experience.


Key Responsibilities

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and other general ledger activity.
  • Assist with preparation and review of monthly financial statements and management reporting.
  • Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and communicate findings to leadership.
  • Monitor key financial estimates and accounting assumptions in partnership with operational leaders.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Develop, document, and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Evaluate business and operational changes to determine potential accounting implications.
  • Partner with various departments to ensure accounting processes remain accurate and effective.
  • Coordinate information and support for external audits and other financial reviews.
  • Assist with applicable federal, state, and local reporting and tax compliance requirements.

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee accounts payable processes, including coding, approvals, and payment activity.
  • Provide oversight of accounts receivable, billing, and collections processes.
  • Monitor working capital and cash flow-related activities.
  • Provide oversight and review of payroll accounting and related processes.
  • Ensure accounting transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.

Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Lead, mentor, and develop members of the accounting team.
  • Establish priorities and ensure accounting deadlines are consistently met.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve controls, and increase efficiency.
  • Support accounting system and ERP enhancements, automation initiatives, and process improvements.
  • Participate in special projects and financial analyses as requested by senior leadership.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Previous supervisory, management, or team leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial accounting principles.
  • Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience working with an ERP or integrated accounting system.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate financial information effectively with both accounting and non-financial professionals.
  • CPA or CMA is preferred but not required.
