Registered Respiratory Therapist Fort Pierce, FL
Job Description
A Registered Respiratory Therapist opportunity is available in Fort Pierce, FL at a 380-bed acute-care hospital offering a full range of services, including a Heart Institute with open-heart surgery capabilities, labor and delivery, pediatrics, orthopedics, oncology, nuclear medicine, adult and pediatric emergency services, and inpatient and outpatient surgical services.
The role. As an integral member of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs comprehensive patient assessments — evaluating breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure — and conducts diagnostic procedures to determine the need for and response to respiratory therapy. The clinician administers respiratory care therapies including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy, and assists with the placement of artificial airways. A significant focus of the role involves initiating, monitoring, and maintaining invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, as well as supporting the safe transportation of ventilator-dependent patients. The Respiratory Therapist monitors patients for therapeutic response, notifies providers of unintended responses, and intervenes appropriately, including responding to emergent situations to ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation.
