What will my role entail?
Job Summary: The Low Voltage Service Technician will specialize in the maintenance and repair of commercial security systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection systems, and IT network infrastructure/servers. This Low Voltage Technician requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Position summary:
The Low Voltage Service Technician will specialize in the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial security systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with low voltage systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, fire alarm systems, audio/video equipment, data cabling, and telecommunications infrastructure. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure the highest standards of safety and functionality for our clients' security needs.
Key Responsibilities and Job Functions: Include the following, but not limited to, other duties that may be assigned.
- Service and maintain low voltage systems in commercial and industrial settings.
- Work closely with customers, contractors, and other team members to ensure the successful completion of projects while adhering to safety standards and industry regulations.
- Handle various low voltage systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection systems, and IT network infrastructure/servers.
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on all low voltage systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Document all work performed, including repairs, and maintenance, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Provide technical support and training to customers and team members as needed.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to continually improve service quality and efficiency.
Required Qualifications: List of the minimum qualifications needed to perform the job.
- Experience: Minimum 7-10 years of experience in ACCESS control systems, including expertise in intrusion detection systems and video surveillance systems. A current Arizona Alarm Agents License. Additional experience with fire alarm systems is a plus.
- License: Arizona Alarm Agents License
- Skills: Possesses the ability to read and interpret blueprints effectively, ensuring accurate and efficient project execution. High awareness of job site safety protocols and strict adherence to Benson’s safety standards underscore a commitment to a secure working environment. Excels in analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving tasks, with excellent written and verbal communication skills facilitating clear and effective interactions.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements (If applicable)
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to work on ladders, aerial lifts, and at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to travel as needed with overnight stays.
- Exposure to various weather conditions and job site environments.
