OVERVIEWThe Tow Motor/Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient loading of all trucks coming into the assigned department. This position is responsible for the storage of material produced from the mill. Responsible for the loading and unloading of Highway rail cars. Responsible for the upkeep of the forklift that he/she is assigned daily. Responsible for final quality checks on all material going out the door. The forklift operators are also called upon to assist management with numerous tasks including, but not limited to, cutting down material on the saw or shear, assisting on the production floor when needed, general upkeep of the assigned department, and assisting wherever a forklift is needed on the campus. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIESFollow all work instructionsFollow all safety instructionsOperate machinery safely and efficientlyStack all production according to storage mapAccurate completion of work orders with complete and accurate documentation as requiredAccurate record keeping of shipmentsMaintain an organized and clean work areaExamine product and ensure it meets quality standardsLoad and unload material onto Highway rail carsLoad material onto Scrap shear, SALV Saw, and SILT Table HorsesBasic troubleshooting when necessaryWilling to work in other departments throughout FI as neededOTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED JOB QUALIFICATIONSPrevious work experience with Tow Motors and/or Forklifts is required. Experience moving both palletized and non-palletized loads with a forklift is highly preferred.Current certification in the proficient operation of forklifts is highly preferred.Mechanical knowledge of tow motors and forklifts highly preferred.General math knowledge is required. (OT is paid at 1.5x pay after 40 hours).
