Pay Rate: $35.00-$38.50/hour
Full-Time | 40 Hours/Week
6-Month Contract | Potential Contract-to-Hire
3rd Shift Most Likely | Must Be Flexible for All Shifts

KEEP CRITICAL AIRPORT SYSTEMS RUNNING

Our client is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to support facility and airport operations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
This is a hands-on commercial HVAC position responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing HVAC systems along with associated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment.

The ideal candidate has at least three years of commercial HVAC maintenance experience, holds an EPA 608 Universal Certification, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced airport environment that may include outdoor work, heights, confined spaces, and active aircraft operations.

This is a 6-month contract opportunity with the potential to become a long-term or permanent position based on performance and business needs.

SCHEDULE

LAX operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, so schedule flexibility is required.
Candidates must be able to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift, including weekends and holidays as needed.
3rd shift is the most likely schedule for this opening.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize commercial HVAC systems and associated equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Inspect and service motors, pumps, compressors, ductwork, controls, and related components.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and complete necessary repairs.
  • Perform brazing, soldering, pipefitting, welding, and fabrication as required.
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC controls and associated electrical systems.
  • Complete scheduled and emergency maintenance activities.
  • Follow all company, airport, environmental, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Drive a company truck throughout the airport and occasionally to locations outside the airport as needed.
  • Work outdoors on the airport tarmac around aircraft and heavy equipment.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • 3+ years of commercial HVAC, electrical maintenance, and repair experience.
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
  • Strong HVAC troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair skills.
  • Experience working with motors, pumps, compressors, controls, and commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to perform brazing, soldering, pipefitting, and related repair work.
  • Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain required airport security clearance.
  • Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.
  • Ability to meet applicable U.S. person requirements for the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Previous commercial facility maintenance experience.
  • Airport operations experience.
  • Experience with Johnson Controls systems.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with common software applications.
PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
This is an active, hands-on HVAC maintenance position. Candidates must be comfortable:
  • Regularly lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching.
  • Climbing ladders and working at elevated heights.
  • Working up to approximately 40 feet in the air while wearing required fall-protection equipment and a safety harness.
  • Working in confined spaces and around baggage conveyor systems.
  • Working outdoors on the airport ramp in varying weather conditions.
  • Working around aircraft, moving vehicles, heavy equipment, mechanical systems, fumes, vibration, and loud noise.
