Requires 2 year commitment to Confluence Health
Collaborates with members of the health care team to provide inpatient or outpatient medical nutrition therapy for all ages.
Position Reports To: Food Services Director
Responsibilities
- Assess nutrition needs and identifies nutrient requirements specific to disease state and age.
- Demonstrates understanding of the stages of change in relation to behavior modification and nutrition.
- Continuously evaluates and monitors the effectiveness and outcomes of medical nutrition therapy intervention. Fosters continuity of care across the continuum of care.
- Provides nutritional care and education to patients/family in assigned area in a timely fashion according to standard policies and procedures.
- Works closely with interdisciplinary team members to provide quality nutrition care to patients.
- Teaches Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab classes, community education classes, and staff education. May include cooking classes and multimedia venues.
- Complete chart notes per organizational policy.
- May include Rehab or Outpatient nutrition.
- Participates in LEAN performance improvement and research activities.
- Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in Food and Nutrition, or related field (or Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition of related field with Internship completed before 12/31/2023).
- Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (must be attained within 4 months of hire for new graduates).
- Washington State Certified Dietitian (CD) - (may apply upon hire)
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification and Washington State Food Handlers Permit
- WA DOH Medical Assistant Registered License (apply after hire)
- Must be proficient with Windows navigation, Microsoft Office Suite.
Desired:
- 2 years of acute care and/or outpatient medical nutrition therapy
- Masters degree
- Advanced/Board Certification
- Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or ASPEN registration
- Software/Platform Skills: Electronic Medical Records experience
