Summary: Plans, coordinates and provides nursing care for residents and provides supervision to CNA's. Scope of work may be modified by state specific rules under the Nurse Practice Act.

Essential Functions:

  • Initiates and leads team conferences in the development of individualized nursing care plans;
  • Assess and document the resident's condition and nursing needs;
  • Accurately and promptly implements physician orders;
  • Assigns nursing care to team members in accordance with the resident's needs and the team member's qualifications and capabilities;
  • Supervises, directs and evaluates LPN's and CNA's;
  • Administers medications, starts IVs and performs treatments for assigned residents and documents as required by Affinity Healthcare, local, state and federal regulations;
  • Reports and records pertinent observations, participates in Medicare/Care planning meeting and completes associated documentation within electronic medical record;
  • Coordinates nursing care of residents when scheduled for therapy or procedures;
  • Assists with or initiates emergency measures for residents;
  • Participates in orientation and in-service training;
  • Ensures that supplies are utlized appropriately and that equipment is in good working order (clean and maintained in a safe manner);
  • Supervises nursing unit, which includes scheduling, directing nursing staff to the extent permitted by state practice act;
  • Other duties as assigned.
