Thermoplastic Tooling Changeover Technician

Where you’ll work: MMI Engineered Solutions, Saline, Michigan — an established plastic injection molding facility that’s growing fast.

Let’s get right to it — your schedule choices
  • A Shift: Monday through Wednesday 6:00am-12:15pm, and alternating Thursday/Friday or Saturday/Sunday 6:00am-6:15pm.
  • B Shift: Monday through Wednesday 12:00pm-6:15pm, and alternating Thursday/Friday or Saturday/Sunday 6:00am-6:15pm.
  • D Shift: Monday through Wednesday 12:00am-6:15am, and alternating Thursday/Friday or Saturday/Sunday 6:00pm-6:15am.
Your impact (short and sweet)
  • Own mold setups and changeovers using established processes and timelines.
  • Stage everything needed: molds, thermolators, DME units, hoses, hydraulics, fixtures, and gauges.
  • Practice Lock-Out/Tag-Out with zero exceptions.
  • Cross-check setup documentation, quality books, process sheets, and work instructions before startup.
  • Coordinate closely with the Shift Supervisor, Process Technicians, Material Handlers, and Operators to hit schedule targets.
  • Run startups and shutdowns; tear down molds and store tooling and auxiliary equipment correctly.
  • Flag safety or quality risks immediately—before and during installs.
What you’ll need to succeed
  • 2–5 years of plastic injection molding and mold setup experience.
  • Hands-on experience performing mold changes in a production environment.
  • Material Technician background preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude + solid problem-solving chops.
  • Ability to read/follow technical instructions and setup docs.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.
  • Great team communication and time management.
  • Comfort with basic computer tools (spreadsheets, digital instructions).
