Vivo HealthStaff is hiring an Occupational Therapist for a healthcare organization in Escondido, California. This is a permanent salaried position with benefits.Responsibilities:- Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team (IDT) during initial, semi-annual, unscheduled, and annual assessments. Attend morning updates and report changes in participants' baseline status to the appropriate staff daily.- Contribute to the development and implementation of Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities.- Conduct intake screenings as assigned and provide appropriate recommendations.- Perform comprehensive in-person assessments at appropriate intervals, at least annually, and develop a plan of care for participants in various settings, including on-site, hospital, nursing facilities, and assisted living facilities. Assessments include functional status, physical status, activities of daily living (ADL) status, cognitive functioning, visual-perceptual status, feeding and cooking skills, bed mobility, wheelchair needs, and home safety evaluations.- Provide treatment as indicated and demonstrate the use of appropriate safety measures when delivering care.- Develop, instruct, and supervise staff and/or family members in therapy programs carried out by individuals other than the occupational therapist.- Delegate oversight of OT interventions and activities, as determined by the IDT on the plan of care, to restorative aides in a timely manner.- Assess durable medical equipment needs for participants, obtain team approval for purchases, and follow up on equipment orders.- Educate staff, participants, and families on occupational therapy services available.- Train and supervise restorative aides on site, ensuring their performance is consistent with departmental policies, and report to supervisors as required.- Provide training on body mechanics.Requirements:- Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working with a frail or elderly population; appropriate clinical placement experience may be substituted.- California Occupational Therapist License.- Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress related to the position.- Ability to function independently and work effectively and in a collegial manner with all members of the interdisciplinary team, co-workers, and department heads.- Ability to relate to the public and governmental agencies in a pleasant, patient, and professional manner.- Well organized, dependable, flexible, and resourceful.- Excellent communication skills.
