Position: Recreation Assistant
Location: Irvington, New Jersey
Shift: Full-Time | 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Salary: $15.92 per hour

Position Summary

Alliance Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a compassionate and energetic Recreation Assistant to support and enhance the quality of life for our residents through meaningful recreational and social programs. This role plays a key part in promoting residents’ physical, emotional, and social well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating recreational programs for residents

  • Observe and document resident participation, mood, behavior, and progress

  • Encourage resident and family involvement in recreational activities and care planning

  • Assist with development and implementation of recreation care plans and resident assessments

  • Conduct individual and group activities including games, crafts, parties, religious services, and reality orientation sessions

  • Support in-room residents through visits, conversation, letter writing, and activity assistance

  • Coordinate activities with other departments as needed

  • Assist with community walks, field trips, and facility events

  • Prepare, arrange, and clean recreation areas before and after activities

  • Transport residents within the facility to scheduled programs

  • Maintain accurate and descriptive recreation progress notes

  • Assist with quality assurance initiatives within the recreation department

  • Participate in facility surveys and inspections as required

  • Recommend and use recreation supplies and equipment efficiently

  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and all facility policies

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrates personal integrity, reliability, and accountability

  • Takes initiative and demonstrates sound decision-making skills

  • Maintains a courteous, pleasant demeanor at all times

  • Willingness to engage with residents, visitors, staff, and regulatory personnel

  • Participation in continuing education programs as required

  • Nursing home or long-term care experience: Preferred
