Injection Molding Process Setup Technician
Job Description
You start your shift by checking in with the previous team, reviewing machine performance, and planning the day’s changeovers. As the go-to process setup technician, you bring injection molding cells online, fine-tune parameters, and keep production humming. You notice a minor variance on startup, make a precise adjustment, and the line is back at spec. You document the tweak, verify quality, and move on to the next challenge—because keeping equipment optimized is your craft.
What you’ll do in a typical day- Operate, monitor, and adjust injection molding equipment to hit production targets and quality standards
- Execute changeovers and start-ups; perform basic troubleshooting and preventative maintenance
- Review prior-shift logs and machine conditions to ensure seamless handoffs
- Complete routine equipment adjustments; escalate mechanical issues promptly
- Conduct in-process quality checks, identify defects, and document all process changes
- Maintain material levels and sustain an orderly, debris-free workspace
- Champion safety: follow PPE rules, report hazards, and join safety initiatives
- Support overtime, shutdowns, and special projects; attend required meetings and trainings
- Verify activities to maintain food safety, GMP, and quality requirements
- Restore product-contact surfaces to sanitary condition after maintenance or production
- Complete all food safety and quality documentation accurately and on time
- Immediately report any food safety, quality, or process concerns
Responsible for food safety, food quality, and site safety.

- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- 1–2 years in manufacturing, machine operation, or production preferred
- Mechanical aptitude with solid troubleshooting ability; basic computer skills
- Comfort following written procedures, specs, and work instructions
- Plastics or packaging experience, and prior machine set-ups/changeovers (preferred)
- Success working in fast-paced, team-based environments
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Stand and walk on concrete for extended periods
- Bend, stoop, twist, reach, push, and pull throughout the shift
- Use hands to handle tools, equipment, and materials
- Ability to work a 12-hour shift schedule
- Close vision for inspections and quality checks
