Job Description:

Young at Heart Pharmacy is seeking a motivated and customer-oriented individual to join our team as a Materials Management Technician. As a vital part of our Materials Management team, you will be responsible for monitoring and helping control the inventory at the determined pharmacy level. A team standard is to maintain a positive and pleasant demeanor with all vendors and colleagues while accurately fulfilling necessary pharmacy and business materials daily.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor inventory levels by utilizing calculated reorder points
  • Ensure sufficient quantities on hand daily in a just in time (JIT) inventory environment
  • Make recommendations for replenishing inventory through cost-cutting initiatives
  • Adhere to purchasing guidelines set forth with multiple vendors simultaneously
  • Place inventory orders daily by vendor-determined timeframe
    1. Utilize purchasing platform (Surecost) to timely order appropriate medications
    2. Order medications and supplies online, by phone, or by form
  • Receive inventory daily
    1. Check in order by piece using scanner to ensure correct medications received while following Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA)
    2. Address inaccuracies with vendor(s)
    3. Ensure security and proper chain of custody of all products during receiving
  • Place received medications in the appropriate locations within pharmacy
  • Answer questions regarding medication procurement status and general market availability
  • Handle market recalls and paperwork daily
  • Collaborate with pharmacists to make recommendations on product replacement, substitution, or alternative procurement
  • Communicate with employees, vendors, caregivers, and wholesalers by phone, fax, and email in a clear, courteous, and professional manner
  • Occasional operational fulfillment help may be needed
  • Contribute to cross-functional and team ad-hoc priorities as business needs grow

Qualifications:

  • Active pharmacy technician license (state of Indiana) preferred;
  • Candidates must apply for Tech-In-Training pharmacy technician permit from the Indiana Board of Pharmacy Professional Licensing Agency before Day 1 of employment
  • Previous pharmacy experience extremely valuable

Working Conditions:

  • The normal working hours for an Inventory Technician are generally Monday through Friday from 9:00am-6:00pm, but may be adjusted on a case-by-case basis determined by volume
  • Quarterly inventory Saturday shift, 8:00am – 2:00pm
  • Materials Management Technician team members must communicate and work well together as a team

Physical Requirements:

  • This position may require standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Heavy lifting is not required but a technician should be able to lift up to 20lbs
  • Technicians may be required to push wheeled carts containing a number of bins/totes from one location to another
  • Operating a desktop keyboard and mouse
  • Communicating with employees, patients, caregivers, and physicians by phone, fax, and email in a courteous and professional manner.
