Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Structural Steel Installer to join our team. This position also serves as a Structural Steel Erector and Crew Lead, responsible for leading a small installation crew while performing hands-on structural steel installation and erection on commercial and industrial construction projects. The ideal candidate has experience leading a structural steel installation crew, a strong attention to safety and quality workmanship, and the ability to work effectively in both the shop and field environments. Shop hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with field schedules varying based on project needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Lead and supervise a structural steel installation crew while promoting a safe and productive work environment.
· Install, erect, and secure structural steel components according to project plans and specifications.
· Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and construction documents.
· Ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
· Perform stick welding and obtain/maintain SMAW 3G & 4G certification as required.
· Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in structural steel installation.
· Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and project specifications are met.
· Coordinate daily tasks and communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and customers when necessary.
· Follow all company policies and job site safety requirements.
· Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
· Load, unload, and handle structural steel materials safely.
· Travel to shop and field job sites as required and work varying schedules based on project needs.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Expertise
· Minimum one (1) year of experience leading a structural steel installation crew.
· Knowledge and experience with structural steel installation and erection methods.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and construction plans.
· Ability to obtain SMAW 3G & 4G Stick Welding Certification immediately upon hire.
· Understanding of construction safety practices and OSHA requirements.
· Experience using tools and equipment common to structural steel erection.
· Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to direct and support a crew.
· Ability to identify job site challenges and make sound decisions to keep work progressing.
· Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
· Ability to work in varying field conditions, including heights, weather, and changing project schedules.
