Are you an experienced plaintiff-side litigator ready to take full ownership of meaningful employment cases from intake through resolution?

Klie Law Offices is a growing West Virginia litigation firm seeking a mid-career employment attorney who can independently manage cases end-to-end. This is not a support role and not a partial-case assignment position. We are looking for an attorney who exercises sound judgment, moves cases forward without prompting, and demonstrates both emotional intelligence and strategic discipline.

Our firm represents plaintiffs in employment, personal injury, and related civil litigation matters. We value trial readiness, persuasive advocacy, and thoughtful client counseling. Attorneys here are trusted with responsibility and expected to lead their cases with confidence and discernment.


The primary responsibility of a Civil Senior Litigation Associate Attorney in our Firm is to represent and advise clients in various types of litigation, including employment law, personal injury law, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, bad faith and other civil cases.

This role is ideal for an attorney who:

  • Understands contingency-based litigation

  • Has substantial deposition and discovery experience

  • Is confident in managing a litigation docket independently

  • Communicates effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and courts

  • Demonstrates strong decision-making and professional maturity

  • Takes ownership of outcomes rather than waiting for direction

  • Is motivated by both results and meaningful client impact

Potential for Hybrid Work. However, travel is required throughout West Virginia.

Compensation

  • Base salary starting at $100,000-$120,000, commensurate with experience

  • Total compensation potential of $120,000–$180,000+

  • Upside performance-based earnings

  • Bonus structure tied directly to case management and resolution outcomes

Compensation is structured to reward attorneys who effectively move cases forward and resolve matters successfully.

Compensation:

$120,000 – $180,000 + Total Compensation


Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage civil litigation cases from intake to resolution, ensuring each step is handled with precision and care.

  • Develop and execute strategic litigation plans that align with client goals and firm objectives.

  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies and client advisories.

  • Prepare and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs, with accuracy and timeliness.

  • Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and negotiations, advocating effectively for their interests.

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, providing clear communication and empathetic guidance throughout the legal process.

  • Engage in discovery processes, including depositions and interrogatories, to gather and analyze critical case information efficiently and effectively.

  • Represent and advise their clients in a way that best supports their legal situation.

  • Set legal strategy and provide clients with substantive legal advice.

  • Create “strategic plan” for each matter move cases from milestone to milestone.

  • Conduct initial client meetings.

  • Provide competent provision of legal services, including legal research; drafting motions, pleadings, orders, memos, case outlines, and overseeing and analyzing discovery.


Qualifications:
  • 5–10+ years of civil litigation experience.
  • Plaintiff-side employment litigation experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cases from start to finish.
  • Significant deposition experience required.
  • Experience with plaintiff-focused trial advocacy training (e.g., Keenan Trial Institute or similar) strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
  • Experience in managing civil litigation cases from start to finish, demonstrating strategic planning and execution.
  • Ability to conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies and client advisories.
  • Proven track record of preparing and filing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs, with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Strong advocacy skills in representing clients in court proceedings, mediations, and negotiations.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with clients, providing clear guidance and empathetic support throughout the legal process.
  • Experience in engaging in discovery processes, including depositions and interrogatories, to gather and analyze critical case information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercising sound judgment and moving cases forward without prompting.
