After-School Tennis Coach

SBA Tennis & Pickleball is hiring enthusiastic part-time tennis coaches to teach beginner-friendly after-school classes at elementary schools throughout the South Bay Area.

This opportunity is ideal for tennis players, instructors, teachers and college students who enjoy working with children. Previous coaching experience is helpful but not required. We provide lesson plans, equipment and training.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday afternoons
• Classes begin between approximately 12:30 PM and 4:00 PM, depending on the school
• Classes are generally one hour long
• Choose one or more workdays based on your availability
• Additional time may be required for preparation, attendance and student dismissal

Compensation

• $60–$100 per class assignment
• Compensation depends on the school, class length, experience and responsibilities
• Paid weekly
• Additional clinics, camps, private lessons and school assignments may be available

Responsibilities

• Complete required training or shadowing before receiving an assignment
• Teach tennis fundamentals using SBA lesson plans and your own experience
• Lead classes of approximately 4–12 elementary-school students
• Modify activities for different ages and playing abilities
• Maintain an encouraging, organized and safe environment
• Transport, set up and organize tennis equipment
• Take attendance and supervise student dismissal
• Communicate professionally with parents and school staff
• Follow SBA and school safety procedures

Minimum qualifications

• Comfortable working with elementary-school-aged children
• Tennis playing experience or strong knowledge of tennis
• Friendly, patient, energetic and encouraging personality
• Dependable, punctual and professional
• Reliable transportation to school locations
• Able to transport coaching equipment when required
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Willing to complete a Live Scan background check

Preferred qualifications

• Previous tennis coaching or teaching experience
• Experience working with children
• Approximately NTRP 3.0 or higher playing ability
• USPTA or PTR certification, or interest in becoming certified
