Job Summary:

We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team. As a COTA, you will work under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist to provide patient care and related activities as directed. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Treating patients as directed by the licensed therapist

  • Demonstrating a positive attitude and team-building approach with patients, clients, and team members

  • Consistently attending work and providing appropriate notice for scheduled paid time off

  • Maintaining productivity standards as determined by your supervisor and clinical needs

  • Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings, patient care conferences, and other meetings as required

  • Instructing families and nursing staff regarding restorative/home programs

Essential Functions:

  • Treat patients according to treatment plan

  • Record clinical documentation according to accepted regulatory and professional guidelines

  • Assist with cleaning maintenance of treatment area and department

  • Participate in in-service training programs

  • Participate in facility performance improvement programs

  • Communicate with medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors

  • Ability to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily as needed

  • Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position

  • Possess sight and hearing senses, or use prosthetics to enable these senses to function adequately

  • Function independently with flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with patients, clients, and team members

  • Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility

  • Ability to lift patients, medical equipment, supplies, etc. to 50 lbs

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Assistant Program

  • Successful completion of certificate/state licensure process for Physical or Occupational Therapy Assistants

  • Current registration/licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant or Occupational Therapist Assistant

  • Ability to speak the English language in an understandable manner

  • Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position

  • Possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately

  • Function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with patients, clients, and team members

  • Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility

  • Ability to lift patients, medical equipment, supplies, etc. to 50 lbs

Work Environment:

  • Works in a well-lighted and ventilated office and therapy area

  • Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently throughout the workday

  • Subject to falls, burns, infectious diseases, odors, and other environmental hazards

  • Mobile phone use is only permitted during break and non-paid allocated lunch times

Travel Requirements:

  • Licensed and able to travel between facilities as indicated by Supervisor
