The Speech Therapist will provide high-quality care to each assigned patient, resident, or client with daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident/patient/ or client's assessment and plan of care.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess residents' communication, cognition, swallowing, and swallowing abilities.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, resident goals, and physician referrals.
- Provide speech-language therapy interventions to enhance residents' speech, language, voice, cognitive-communication, and swallowing skills.
- Administer standardized tests, informal assessments, and clinical observations to measure residents' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Utilize therapeutic techniques, exercises, and strategies to address communication disorders, articulation difficulties, language impairments, voice disorders, and dysphagia.
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals, including occupational therapists, physical therapists, nurses, and physicians, to ensure a coordinated approach to resident care.
- Educate residents and their families on compensatory strategies, communication techniques, and swallowing exercises to maximize functional outcomes.
- Provide guidance and training to caregivers and nursing staff regarding communication and swallowing management techniques.
- Monitor and document residents' progress throughout the course of therapy, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Adhere to legal, ethical, and professional standards of speech-language therapy practice.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and continuing education to enhance clinical skills and stay updated with the latest research and advancements in the field.
Qualifications:
- Valid licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in the state of New York.
- Strong knowledge of speech-language therapy principles, assessment techniques, and evidence-based treatment interventions.
- Proficiency in conducting evaluations and developing appropriate treatment plans based on resident needs and goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and other relevant software applications.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to resident care.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to efficiently manage caseloads and prioritize tasks.
