Food Service Manager
Job Summary:
The Food Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the food service department at a nursing home. This role ensures that all food served meets the dietary needs of residents while adhering to safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The manager will lead a team of kitchen staff and work closely with dietitians, healthcare providers, and other departments to provide exceptional service and quality meals to residents.
Responsibilities:
• Manage food service operations, overseeing daily activities, including food preparation, serving, and receiving of orders
• Coordinate menu planning, ensuring nutritional and appealing options for our diverse population
• Supervise food service staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure excellent customer service
• Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation
• Participate in inventory management, ordering supplies and managing inventory levels
• Collaborate with the dietary team, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance our culinary offerings
High School or GED required
Requirements:
2+ years of experience in food service management, preferably in a healthcare setting
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with food service software and technology (e.g., inventory management systems)
Committed to providing exceptional customer service
Certifications: ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification required. Additional certifications in food safety or nutrition are a plus.
