Position Summary
The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, finished goods, and inventory throughout the warehouse and production areas. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate inventory, supporting shipping and receiving operations, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate sit-down, stand-up, reach truck, and other powered industrial equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload inbound and outbound shipments.
- Transport materials between warehouse locations and production areas.
- Accurately scan and record inventory transactions using warehouse management systems (WMS) and handheld RF scanners.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Pick, stage, and prepare orders for shipment according to customer requirements.
- Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and shipping documents.
- Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness in accordance with GMP, safety, and company standards.
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory procedures.
- Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Adhere to all OSHA, food safety, and company policies and procedures.
- Support team members and perform additional warehouse duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of forklift operating experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely and effectively.
- Basic computer skills and experience using RF scanners.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- Forklift certification.
- Experience with SAP, WMS, or ERP systems.
- Experience in food ingredient, chemical, or manufacturing warehouse environments.
- Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in warehouse environments with varying temperatures.
- Ability to safely operate powered industrial trucks for extended periods.
Work Environment
- Warehouse and distribution setting.
- Exposure to warehouse equipment, moving machinery, and material handling operations.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required as needed.
