About This Role

Under the supervision of the School-Age Directors, the Recreation Leader will plan and implement engaging activities for school-age children, ensuring their safety and well-being while adhering to Northeast Youth Center’s policies. The Recreation Leader will lead by example, demonstrating quality core values daily and treating children, parents, staff, and the community with respect.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and implement programs for school-age youth, providing a dynamic and engaging experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain accurate records for attendance, permission waivers, and activity information.
  • Operate a vehicle safely and responsibly, adhering to state and city requirements to ensure the well-being of patrons.
  • Ensure continuous supervision of children.
  • Provide a variety of experiences and activities for children, including songs, games, storytelling, and crafts.
  • Establish a safe and secure environment, promoting children’s esteem through positive guidance.
  • Ensure daily cleanliness and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  • Document attendance records.
  • Offer enriching experiences for children.
  • Follow established routines and provide guidance.
  • Create a comfortable and secure environment for children.
  • Implement positive discipline when necessary.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with children.
  • Promote literacy and early education.
  • Follow closing procedures as needed.
  • Assist with duties assigned by the Executive Director or Core Team.
  • Undergo van training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with 5 years of safe driving history.
  • Auto Insurance.
  • A valid Food Handlers Permit.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must pass a criminal history/child abuse information check, including the Department of Early Learning.
  • Pre-employment tuberculin skin test.
  • An understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • High energy.
