CASAC Counselor – Residential Treatment

Location: New York, NY

Salary: $55,000–$62,700/year, depending on experience


Full-Time Schedules (these are the open shifts)

  • Tuesday–Saturday: 7:00 AM–2:30/3:30 PM
  • Tuesday–Saturday: 2:00 PM–10:00 PM
  • Sunday–Thursday: 7:00 AM–3:00 PM


Position Overview

Seeking a compassionate Substance Use Disorder Counselor to provide trauma-informed, recovery-focused counseling in a residential treatment setting. The Counselor will support individualized treatment plans, client recovery goals, case management, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling and develop, monitor, and update treatment/recovery plans.
  • Assess client needs, progress, strengths, and barriers to recovery.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions and support life-skills development.
  • Facilitate community meetings, activities, and treatment planning.
  • Provide case management and referrals for medical, psychiatric, vocational, legal, and community resources.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Support clients receiving medications for substance use and co-occurring conditions.
  • Monitor toxicology results and incorporate findings into treatment planning.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and required reports.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
  • Conduct room inspections and support residential program operations as needed.


Qualifications

  • CASAC + Bachelor's Degree, OR CASAC with 8 years of residential treatment experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders.
  • Knowledge of substance use treatment, detoxification, and withdrawal.
  • Residential or behavioral health counseling experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, documentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population and multidisciplinary team.
  • Microsoft Word/Windows proficiency.
  • Uni/Care and Therapeutic Community (TC) experience preferred.
