Position: Head Field Hockey Coach
Compensation: $6,000 stipend
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:30–5:30 PM
Openings: 1

Position Summary

Stuart Country Day School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Head Field Hockey Coach to lead its field hockey program for the upcoming fall season. The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing student-athletes both on and off the field while creating a positive, competitive, and inclusive team environment.

The Head Coach will be responsible for planning and leading practices, developing players' technical and tactical skills, preparing the team for competition, and fostering a strong team culture built on teamwork, sportsmanship, accountability, and confidence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead engaging, organized practices Monday–Friday from 3:30–5:30 PM
  • Develop players' fundamental field hockey skills, game awareness, and tactical understanding
  • Prepare the team for games and provide effective in-game coaching
  • Create a positive and supportive team culture
  • Build strong relationships with student-athletes and serve as a positive mentor
  • Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and personal growth
  • Adjust coaching techniques to meet athletes' varying skill levels and needs
  • Communicate professionally with school athletic leadership, families, and student-athletes
  • Manage team logistics and responsibilities throughout the season
  • Serve as a positive representative of Stuart Country Day School
Ideal Candidate

The ideal coach will have previous field hockey playing and/or coaching experience and a genuine passion for working with student-athletes. Strong candidates will be:

  • Knowledgeable about field hockey fundamentals, strategy, and player development
  • Positive, energetic, and encouraging
  • Organized and dependable
  • Comfortable leading practices and managing a team independently
  • Strong communicators who can build relationships with athletes
