We re seeking a dynamic and dedicated Part Time Power Sports Technology Instructor to join our Team! NATURE OF THE POSITION:The Power Sports / Recreational Vehicle Repair Instructor is responsible for classroom and lab instruction in various areas of power sports and recreational vehicle service and repair. Responsibilities include a strong focus on industry alignment, hands-on learning, and preparing students for postsecondary training and careers in the power sports industry.RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:%CF; Provide instruction in areas including but not limited to:%CB; Small engine theory, operation, and repair (2-cycle and 4-cycle)%CB; Electrical systems, diagnostics, and troubleshooting%CB; Fuel systems, carburetion, and fuel injection%CB; Drivetrain, clutching, and transmission systems%CB; Suspension, steering, brakes, and chassis systems%CB; Preventative maintenance and service procedures%CB; Shop safety, tool use, and industry best practices%CF; Align and maintain program standards to meet current industry and manufacturer expectations%CF; Guide students in a hands-on lab environment, assisting with diagnostics, repair processes, and problem-solving techniques%CF; Maintain a high level of safety awareness in both classroom and lab/shop settings%CF; Instruct students in a classroom setting in assigned areas of responsibility, ensuring applicable core competencies are addressed%CF; Develop course syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials%CF; Plan, teach, observe, and evaluate student performance; grade assignments and assess overall student progress%CF; Assist students with career exploration, certifications, and articulation opportunities with post-secondary institutions, training programs, or employers%CF; Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism when interacting with students, staff, parents, and community partners%CF; Maintain a calm and professional demeanor when dealing with challenging or crisis situations%CF; Participate in the development of instructional materials, exams, workshops, presentations, and special programs%CF; Stay current with industry trends, technologies, tools, and educational best practices related to power sports and recreational vehicle repair%CF; Facilitate study sessions, labs, and additional learning opportunities for students as needed%CF; Prepare lesson plans and materials for a substitute when necessary%CF; Maintain regular and consistent in-person attendance%CF; Utilize technology effectively, including:%CB; Google Applications%CB; Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office%CB; Educational and diagnostic software relevant to the field%CF; Maintain a valid driver's license with reliable transportation%CF; Perform other responsibilities as deemed appropriate by upper school administrationQUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:%CF; Current industry-recognized certifications in one or more of the following areas (or ability to obtain):%CB; Motorcycle / Power Sports Service Technology (OEM, MMI, or equivalent)%CB; Small Engine Repair (2-stroke and 4-stroke)%CB; Electrical Systems Diagnosis%CB; Engine Performance and Repair%CB; Drivetrain, Suspension, and Chassis Systems%CF; Eligible for Annual Career Authorization (ACA) in a CTE Program%CB; Current and valid State of Michigan licensure OR%CB; National certification with a minimum of 4,000 hours of relevant industry experience%CF; Recommended:%CB; Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with appropriate Vocational Endorsement related to Power Sports, Small Engine Repair, or Automotive Technology%CF; Physically and mentally capable of rigorous work (capable of standing and sitting for extended periods; lifting, pushing, or pulling a minimum of 50 pounds)%CF; Ability to work safely and effectively in a shop/lab environment%CF; Pass and maintain School Employment background check If you are passionate, dedicated, and ready to make a lasting impact on young minds, our innovative and forward-thinking team wants to speak to you!We are an equal-opportunity employer.
