Locomotive Shop Electrician
Minooka, IL
Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Locomotive Shop Electrician for a well-established company in Minooka, IL. This is a great opportunity for someone with electrical troubleshooting and repair experience who enjoys working on locomotives and industrial equipment in a shop environment.
No Fridays! Enjoy a consistent Monday through Thursday schedule and a three-day weekend every week.
Schedule
  • Monday - Thursday
  • 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
  • No Friday shifts
Pay
  • $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
  • Higher starting pay may be available for highly experienced candidates
What You'll Do
  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair locomotive electrical systems and components.
  • Perform electrical testing and diagnostics using meters and other testing equipment.
  • Remove, repair, replace, rebuild, assemble, install, and adjust electrical components and systems.
  • Complete locomotive rewiring projects.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Install aftermarket control systems, remote-control systems, and engine heating systems.
  • Maintain and repair batteries, lighting circuits, crane circuits, air compressors, and other electrical equipment.
  • Assist with mechanical disassembly and reassembly as needed during repair projects.
  • Diagnose electrical issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Operate forklifts and other shop equipment safely.
  • Communicate inspection findings and repair recommendations to supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Trade school training or formal locomotive, diesel electrical, industrial electrical, or related training preferred.
  • Minimum 2.5 years of locomotive electrical, industrial electrical, or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
