Occupational Therapy Assistant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team at Coordinated Therapy Solutions in Topeka, Kansas. As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will work alongside occupational therapists to provide high-quality occupational therapy treatments and procedures to our patients.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Select and implement therapy activities tailored to patients' needs and capabilities

  • Observe and record patients' progress, attitudes, and behavior, and maintain accurate records

  • Communicate and collaborate with other healthcare professionals involved in patients' care

  • Instruct or assist patients and families in home programs, basic living skills, and adaptive equipment use

  • Implement treatment plans to help clients function independently

  • Assess daily living skills and capacities of physically, developmentally or emotionally disabled clients

  • Assemble, clean, and maintain equipment and materials for patient use

  • Demonstrate therapy techniques such as manual and creative arts or games

  • Teach patients how to deal constructively with their emotions

  • Attend care plan meetings to review patient progress and update care plans

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge and skills to care for patient needs of the SNF population

  • Problem-solving skills to successfully perform job

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with other employees, patients, and family members

  • Ability to travel as needed to perform job

  • Ability to use tools used to make adaptive equipment

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited occupational therapy program

  • Current state licensure as Occupational Therapy Assistant

  • Proficiency with all applicable state, federal, and professional standards

Physical Requirements:

  • Duties require extensive standing and walking

  • Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients

  • Duties require frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
