Staffing Coordinator
Job Description
The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and maintaining appropriate staffing levels for all nursing departments to ensure quality resident care in accordance with federal, state, and facility guidelines. This role involves scheduling, staffing adjustments, and daily communication with nursing staff to support efficient facility operations.
Key Responsibilities:Prepare and maintain weekly and daily nursing staff schedules (RNs, LPNs, CNAs)
Ensure adequate staffing coverage for all shifts in compliance with state regulations and facility needs
Manage call-outs, replacements, and last-minute staffing changes
Contact and schedule per diem, part-time, and agency staff as needed
Monitor overtime and work to minimize unnecessary labor costs
Maintain accurate staffing records, attendance logs, and timekeeping data
Collaborate with nursing leadership to adjust staffing based on census and acuity levels
Ensure compliance with staffing ratios and regulatory requirements
Track and report absenteeism, tardiness, and staffing trends
Assist with onboarding schedules and orientation for new hires
Communicate effectively with all levels of staff to ensure smooth shift transitions
Participate in on-call rotation for staffing coverage (if required)
High school diploma required; Associate’s degree or healthcare-related education preferred
Prior experience in scheduling, staffing, or healthcare setting preferred (nursing home experience strongly preferred)
Knowledge of staffing ratios and long-term care regulations (especially in New Jersey)
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle staffing emergencies
