Our growing law firm is looking to hire a family attorney who is fiercely passionate about representing clients facing one of the most challenging times in their lives. Candidates should be adept at preparing necessary legal documents in connection with prenuptial agreements, initiating and finalizing divorces, alimony, child support/child custody, and real estate. The responsibilities of a Family Law Litigation Attorney in our firm include representing and advising clients in various family cases.
Compensation:$80,000 - $120,000 annually
Responsibilities:
- Draft pleadings, motions, contracts, marital settlement agreements, judgements, and orders for a high volume of cases
- Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients
- Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action
- Collaborate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move files through the civil litigation process
- Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings
What You’ll Do:
- Represent clients in family law hearings, mediations, and trials.
- Draft motions, pleadings, settlement agreements, and final orders.
- Guide clients through complex legal and emotional situations.
- Collaborate with paralegals and senior attorneys on case strategy.
- Oversee case files, track progress, and manage deadlines.
- Communicate regularly with clients and opposing counsel.
- Occasional travel required across Ohio.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree with a legal background and Juris Doctor degree required
- Strong knowledge base of representing plaintiffs and defendants
- Must have worked on family law issues for at least 1-2 years; handling of real estate also required
- Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred
- Great negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations
What You Need:
Licensed to practice law in the state of Ohio.
Prior experience with Family Law is preferred.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Excellent courtroom presence and legal writing skills.
Strong communication and client relationship abilities.
Confidence under pressure and compassion for people in crisis.
Willingness to work independently and as part of a team.
The Family Law Litigation Attorney will have a four-year bachelor’s degree, a Juris Doctor degree, and be licensed to practice law in West Virginia.
The Family Law Litigation Attorney will demonstrate proficiency in litigation skills.
