Job Description – Healthcare Facility

Position Summary The Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients with speech, language, cognitive‑communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders within a healthcare setting. This role ensures the delivery of evidence‑based, patient‑centered care in compliance with facility policies, professional standards, and regulatory guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, cognitive‑communication, and swallowing function

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient needs

  • Provide direct therapy services to patients across acute, subacute, outpatient, or long‑term care settings

  • Document assessments, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, rehabilitation staff, and other interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated patient care

  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment goals, strategies, and home programs

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and continuing education activities

  • Maintain compliance with ethical standards, HIPAA regulations, and state/federal guidelines

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program

  • Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP) from ASHA preferred

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting preferred

  • Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills

  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Full‑time, part‑time, or per‑diem opportunities may be available

  • May include inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation settings

  • Schedule may require flexibility based on patient needs and facility operations
