Position Summary

The Mortgage Lender is responsible for guiding borrowers through the mortgage lending process, evaluating loan applications, developing appropriate financing solutions, and ensuring a smooth and compliant closing experience. This role builds strong relationships with borrowers, real estate professionals, and referral partners while meeting production and service goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet with prospective borrowers to understand their financial goals, homeownership needs, and financing options.
  • Originate and manage residential mortgage loans from application through closing.
  • Analyze borrower financial information, credit reports, income, assets, and property details to determine appropriate loan solutions.
  • Explain mortgage products, interest rates, fees, terms, and qualification requirements clearly to borrowers.
  • Collect and review required documentation and work closely with processors, underwriters, appraisers, title companies, and closing teams.
  • Maintain consistent communication with borrowers and referral partners throughout the loan process.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with real estate agents, builders, financial professionals, and other referral sources.
  • Generate new mortgage business through networking, referrals, community involvement, and business development activities.
  • Ensure all lending activities comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, investor requirements, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in the loan origination system.
  • Stay current on mortgage products, lending guidelines, market conditions, and regulatory requirements.
  • Meet or exceed established production, customer service, quality, and compliance goals.

Qualifications

  • Previous mortgage lending, loan origination, banking, financial services, or related sales experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of residential mortgage products and the home-buying process.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and customer-service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple loans and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to analyze financial information and explain complex lending concepts in an understandable manner.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable developing new business.
  • Proficiency with mortgage loan origination systems and standard office technology.
  • Must meet applicable licensing and registration requirements, including NMLS requirements where applicable.

  • Knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and other residential mortgage programs.
