Commercial Chiller & BAS Controls Technician$35-$45 per hour, based on experienceFull-Time | Panama City Beach, FLA Superior Mechanical is seeking an experienced Commercial Chiller & BAS Controls Technician to join our team in Panama City Beach. This hybrid mechanical and automation role focuses on the startup, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of large-tonnage chillers and central energy plants, including their integration with Building Automation Systems (BAS). The position combines advanced refrigeration expertise with BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/IP controls to ensure reliable equipment performance and efficient system operation.What You'll DoStart up, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot air- and water-cooled chillers, including centrifugal, screw, and scroll systemsWork on major OEM equipment, including Trane, York, Carrier, and DaikinService central plant equipment, including:Cooling towersChilled and condenser water pumpsHeat exchangersVariable Frequency Drives (VFDs)Perform refrigerant recovery, leak testing, evacuation, and chargingDiagnose mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and water-flow issuesConnect to and troubleshoot onboard chiller controls and microprocessorsCommission and troubleshoot BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/IP networksConfigure device addressing, baud rates, point mapping, alarms, trends, and sensorsTroubleshoot BAS communication and network issuesAssist with central plant sequencing, lead/lag operation, temperature resets, and system optimizationWork with BAS platforms such as Tridium Niagara N4, Johnson Controls Metasys, Automated Logic WebCTRL, and Distech EC-NetWhat We're Looking For5+ years of commercial HVAC/R field experience, including large-tonnage chillers2+ years of hands-on DDC/BAS controls experienceEPA Universal CertificationExperience commissioning and troubleshooting BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/IPAbility to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, ladder logic, and controls sequencesExperience with VFD programming and troubleshootingValid driver's license with a clean driving recordAbility to participate in a rotating on-call emergency service scheduleAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on rooftops, ladders, aerial lifts, and in mechanical roomsPreferred QualificationsOEM factory training or certifications from Trane, York/JCI, Carrier, or DaikinTridium Niagara 4 (N4) CertificationJourneyman or Master Mechanical/HVAC LicenseKnowledge of Modbus RTU/TCP, LonWorks, or Johnson Controls N2What We OfferMedical, Dental & Vision Insurance - 50% employer-paid401(k) with 4% company matchTake-home company-provided vehicle and gas cardCompany phone, tablet, uniforms, and tool assistance7 paid holidays annuallyUp to three weeks of paid vacation, depending on experience and tenurePaid training and advancement opportunitiesStable, year-round work with a supportive teamIf you're an experienced chiller technician with strong BAS controls knowledge and are looking for a long-term opportunity with a growing team, we'd like to hear from you.
