Position Overview

Absaroka Senior Living Center is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to join our nursing team.

As a CMA, you will be responsible for assisting with the safe and timely administration of medications under the direction and supervision of licensed nursing staff and within your authorized scope of practice. You will also provide hands-on resident care, assist with activities of daily living, monitor for changes in condition, and help maintain a safe and comfortable environment.

This position is ideal for a healthcare professional who takes pride in accuracy, accountability, resident relationships, and providing compassionate, person-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

Medication Administration & Monitoring

  • Prepare and administer medications as authorized and delegated in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and applicable Wyoming requirements

  • Follow established medication administration procedures and resident-identification protocols

  • Maintain accurate and timely medication administration records within the electronic medical record (EMR) or medication administration record (MAR)

  • Observe residents for medication effectiveness, potential side effects, adverse reactions, and changes in condition

  • Promptly report medication-related concerns, adverse reactions, refusals, omissions, or changes in resident condition to the supervising licensed nurse

  • Follow established procedures for medication storage, security, handling, and disposal

  • Maintain medication carts and medication-related work areas in a clean, organized, and secure condition

  • Obtain and document vital signs and other authorized observations when required for medication administration

  • Immediately report medication errors or discrepancies according to facility procedures

  • Perform medication-related responsibilities only within authorized scope of practice and appropriate nursing supervision

Resident Care & Activities of Daily Living
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, personal hygiene, eating, and nutritional assistance

  • Assist residents with safe transfers, ambulation, mobility, and repositioning in accordance with individualized care plans

  • Respond promptly and professionally to resident call lights and requests for assistance

  • Provide toileting and incontinence care while maintaining resident dignity, privacy, and comfort

  • Assist with meals, hydration, and feeding when appropriate

  • Encourage residents to maintain independence and participate in their care to the greatest extent possible

  • Provide compassionate emotional support and build positive relationships with residents

  • Maintain resident rooms and care areas in a safe, comfortable, and organized condition

Resident Observation & Safety
  • Observe residents for changes in physical, cognitive, emotional, behavioral, or functional condition

  • Promptly communicate changes in condition to the supervising licensed nurse

  • Accurately obtain, record, and report assigned vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure

  • Recognize and report concerns related to pain, skin integrity, appetite, hydration, mobility, behavior, and overall resident well-being

  • Immediately report falls, injuries, accidents, incidents, or other resident-safety concerns

  • Respond appropriately to urgent situations and obtain licensed nursing assistance when necessary

Documentation & Communication
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation of medication administration and assigned resident care

  • Follow individualized resident care plans and nursing instructions

  • Communicate professionally with residents, families, licensed nurses, CNAs, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members

  • Participate in shift communication and communicate relevant resident information to appropriate team members

  • Maintain resident privacy and confidentiality

  • Report unresolved resident concerns to the appropriate nursing supervisor

Infection Prevention & Regulatory Compliance
  • Follow infection prevention and control practices, including appropriate hand hygiene, PPE, and transmission-based precautions

  • Follow facility policies and applicable federal and Wyoming requirements governing resident care and medication administration

  • Maintain compliance with medication-management and resident-safety procedures

  • Protect resident rights, dignity, privacy, preferences, and personal belongings

  • Immediately report suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, mistreatment, or other resident-safety concerns according to facility procedures

  • Participate in required training, in-services, competency evaluations, and continuing education

  • Maintain all certifications and competencies required for the position

Qualifications
  • Current, active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the State of Wyoming, in good standing, as required for the position

  • Current Medication Aide certification/authorization in the State of Wyoming, in good standing and eligible to perform medication-related duties within applicable scope-of-practice requirements

  • CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or as required by facility policy

  • Previous skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, rehabilitation, or healthcare experience preferred

  • Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding medication administration and documentation

  • Ability to recognize and appropriately report changes in resident condition

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively under the supervision of licensed nursing staff

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
