Responsibilities:
Assist occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans to improve residents' physical, emotional, and cognitive function
Conduct occupational therapy assessments, evaluations, and treatments, as directed by the occupational therapist
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including speech therapists, physical therapists, and nurses, to ensure comprehensive care
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss resident progress and develop effective care plans
Maintain accurate and detailed records of treatments, progress notes, and reports
Utilize evidence-based practices and techniques to promote resident independence, safety, and well-being
Requirements:
Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the state of Missouri
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant preferred
Experience working in long-term care or rehabilitation settings, with a focus on geriatric populations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to lift, transfer, and ambulate residents as needed; must be physically able to perform duties with minimal assistance
