Low-Voltage TechnicianJob Summary

Seeking an experienced Low-Voltage Technician to install, terminate, test, and support low-voltage systems in commercial, industrial, and shipyard environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and route low-voltage cabling, including through J-hooks, cable trays, and existing conduits.
  • Install and terminate systems for fire alarms, access control, structured cabling, security cameras, and wireless access points.
  • Terminate copper data cabling on keystone jacks and patch panels and install/label faceplates and data outlets.
  • Install card readers, door contacts, cameras, wireless APs, and related equipment.
  • Test cabling for continuity and proper termination.
  • Read basic floor plans, drawings, cable schedules, and installation instructions.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow all company, OSHA, customer, and shipyard safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous commercial or industrial low-voltage installation experience.
  • Experience with fire alarm, access control, and structured cabling.
  • Experience pulling/routing cable and working with existing conduits.
  • Experience installing card readers, door contacts, cameras, and wireless access points.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, cable testers, punch-down tools, and termination equipment.
  • Ability to read basic construction drawings and cable schedules.
  • Strong attention to detail and professional workmanship.
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a crew.
  • Must be able to pass required background checks, security clearance, and/or shipyard access requirements.
Preferred
  • 3+ years of commercial, industrial, maritime, or shipyard low-voltage experience.
  • OSHA 10/30, lift, ladder, or fall-protection training.
  • Experience troubleshooting low-voltage systems or working with fiber-optic cabling is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined or elevated areas.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working indoors/outdoors and wearing required PPE.
  • Must be available for scheduled shifts, overtime, nights, or weekends as required.
