POSITION OVERVIEW- Hot Gas Turbine Design Engineer
The Gas Turbine Hot Gas Path (HGP) Design Engineer will serve as a technical expert within the Fleet Engineering team, supporting the integrity, reliability, and availability of gas turbine components through advanced analytical methods and data-driven engineering decisions.
This role will focus heavily on finite element analysis (FEA), component lifting, structural and dynamic analysis, root cause investigations, and technical support for gas turbine hardware operating under complex thermal and mechanical conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and execute high-fidelity Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate gas turbine hardware under complex thermal and mechanical boundary conditions.
  • Perform component lifting analyses, including:
    • Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF)
    • High Cycle Fatigue (HCF)
    • Creep
    • Oxidation
    • Fracture mechanics
  • Conduct structural, modal, and forced response analyses to evaluate component behavior and durability.
  • Interpret dynamic analysis results, develop Campbell diagrams, and characterize component dynamic behavior.
  • Provide technical support for urgent Engineering Requests (ERs) from field and services teams.
  • Support and/or lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations to identify failure mechanisms and develop robust, long-term corrective solutions.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for Design Reviews and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively with global engineering and services teams in a remote environment.
  • Apply engineering judgment to support gas turbine component design, reliability, and fleet performance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 6+ years of relevant engineering design experience.
  • 6+ years of Ansys Mechanical / Classic Ansys FEA experience.
  • 3+ years of NX CAD experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T standards and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and perform tolerance stack-ups.
  • Experience with PLM and/or Teamcenter configuration management tools.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations.
  • Experience working in a Services environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Person authorized to access export-controlled materials.
