Job Description
You roll in for a 7:00 am start, check parts and drawings for accuracy, and head to your first crane. You’ll run a thorough inspection, trace an electrical issue through a lattice boom, test a hydraulic repair against OEM specs, and document everything before lunch. In the afternoon, you might examine components with micrometers and gauges, complete an annual inspection, advise a customer on best practices, and wrap up your hours and expense reports. Throughout the day, you work independently, partner with the Service Manager when needed (you report directly to them), and deliver customer-first service.
The role at a glanceJoin MGX as a shop-based Crane Technician focused on inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of mobile cranes and boom trucks.
- Operate and rigorously inspect cranes to pinpoint defects.
- Diagnose and repair mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes; service hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Use micrometers/gauges; interpret parts manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Test mechanical, electronic, electrical, and hydraulic systems post-repair to confirm OEM compliance.
- Prep each job by verifying parts and drawings.
- Perform complete, accurate annual inspections.
- Complete work, time, hours overview, and expense reports properly.
- Work with minimal supervision; take ownership of tasks.
- Deliver excellent customer service.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED; 2+ years as a Crane Mechanic/Technician preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Grove RT & TMS, Grove GMK (European), Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional, and National Boom Trucks preferred.
- Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Strong communicator with a client-service mindset.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches (required).
- Work safely and wear required PPE.
- Follow job-specific and facility-wide safety procedures.
- Engage in safety training and demonstrate competency.
- Raise or correct safety concerns proactively.
This is a full-time role with typical hours from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Overtime and weekend work may occur based on business needs.

Compensation & perks- $4,500 sign-on bonus after 90 days of continuous service.
