Job Description
Journeyman Plumber – Ground-Up Commercial Construction
Bellyache Mechanical, Inc. is seeking an experienced Journeyman Plumber with strong ground-up commercial construction experience. This is not primarily a service plumbing position. We are looking for someone who has worked on large-scale commercial projects such as hotels, hospitals, or similar facilities and is comfortable taking a project from underground through finish.
What You'll Do
- Perform plumbing installation on large-scale, ground-up commercial construction projects.
- Perform underground plumbing from initial layout through inspection and backfill.
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, elevations, and specifications.
- Establish and maintain proper elevations, grade, slope, and underground pipe depths.
- Determine excavation depths and clearly communicate requirements to excavator/operators.
- Understand and apply top-down measurements and layout in the field.
- Properly install and bed underground piping.
- Understand appropriate bedding and backfill requirements.
- Coordinate underground work with excavators and other trades.
- Complete plumbing installation from underground/sub-rough through rough-in and finish.
- Work independently and complete assigned work with minimal supervision.
What We're Looking For
- Active Journeyman Plumber License.
- Minimum 4 years of plumbing experience.
- Hands-on ground-up commercial construction experience required.
- Strong underground plumbing experience required.
- Experience on hotels, hospitals, or other large commercial projects strongly preferred.
- Ability to establish grade, elevations, slopes, and excavation depths.
- Experience coordinating directly with excavators during underground installation.
- Ability to read and work from commercial construction plans and blueprints.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Strong work ethic, attention to quality, and ability to complete tasks without constant supervision.
This position is best suited for a plumber with true ground-up construction experience. Candidates whose experience is primarily residential, service plumbing, repair, or remodel work may not be the right fit.
