Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team within a skilled nursing facility. The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide therapeutic services that assist residents in improving functional independence, safety, and overall quality of life. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical skills and a commitment to high-quality, resident-centered care.
Responsibilities:
Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
Provide therapeutic interventions focused on activities of daily living, including dressing, grooming, bathing, and feeding
Facilitate upper extremity strengthening, coordination, and fine motor skill development
Assist residents with cognitive retraining and functional task performance
Monitor resident progress and report changes or concerns to the Occupational Therapist
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards
Educate residents, families, and caregivers on adaptive equipment and safety techniques
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support comprehensive resident care
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized therapy environment
Ability to manage multiple patients and prioritize tasks effectively
Qualifications:
Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Current state licensure or eligibility as a COTA
NBCOT certification required
CPR certification required
Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or geriatric rehabilitation preferred
Strong communication and organizational skills
Recent graduates encouraged to apply
