About the Role:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of healthcare facility infrastructure. This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to support uninterrupted healthcare services. The technician will work closely with clinical and administrative teams to minimize downtime and maintain compliance with health and safety regulations. By proactively identifying potential issues and implementing preventive maintenance, the technician helps create a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall mission of delivering high-quality healthcare by maintaining the physical environment to the highest standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of facility, construction, plumbing, or electrical experience.
  • Proven experience in facilities maintenance, preferably within healthcare or a related industry.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of local and state building codes.
  • Proficient with using power tools, hand tools, electrical tools, plumbing tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate maintenance equipment safely.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a healthcare environment with knowledge of healthcare-specific regulations.
  • Training in safety protocols such as OSHA standards and infection control.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Additional technical certifications or vocational training relevant to facility systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on facility systems including fixing structural damages, minor HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lawn care and landscaping.
  • Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs to minimize disruption to healthcare operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment status in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and system upgrades as needed.
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations specific to healthcare facilities.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician utilizes technical skills daily to diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring continuous operation of critical healthcare infrastructure. Strong problem-solving abilities enable the technician to quickly identify issues and implement effective solutions, minimizing downtime. Communication skills are essential for coordinating with healthcare staff and external vendors to schedule maintenance and repairs without disrupting patient care. Attention to detail ensures compliance with stringent healthcare safety and regulatory standards, maintaining a safe environment.
