Automotive Durability Road Test Operator
Picture this: the sun is barely up, the road is quiet, and you’re behind the wheel of a technically advanced vehicle that hasn’t yet reached the market. Your mission is clear—put it through real-world use, capture precise observations, and help engineers refine the next generation of vehicles.
What you’ll do day to day- Operate pre-production and production vehicles on public roads, following assigned test routes and procedures for the full shift.
- Perform complete vehicle evaluations and record clear, concise reports for every vehicle you drive.
- Identify and document concerns related to powertrain behavior, build quality, feature functionality, system design, and any other vehicle-related issues.
- Drive with exceptional safety awareness, strictly obeying traffic laws and internal safety protocols.
- Maneuver oversized vehicles confidently and handle inclement weather conditions.
- 1st Shift: 4:00 am – 12:30 pm
- 2nd Shift: 4:00 pm – 12:30 am
- Saturday/Sunday: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
- Shifts may run 8–10 hours; road time is spent executing test procedures on designated routes.
- 21+ years of age with a valid Michigan driver’s license held for at least 5 years.
- Clean driving profile: no points, no major citations, and/or accidents in the last three years; no DUI or DWAI.
- Comfortable reading maps and navigating with an iPad or tablet.
- Capable of driving for extended periods and lifting at least 25 lbs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Available 3–5 days per week (5 days preferred) with reliable attendance.
- Strong communicator—able to articulate findings verbally and produce legible, detailed written reports.
- Follows directions, completes required training, and contributes positively to a team environment.
