Summary The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repair tasks across plant facilities and equipment. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and basic structural components. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying issues, minimizing downtime, and maintaining a safe working environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform general maintenance and repairs on plant equipment, machinery, and facilitiesConduct routine inspections to identify issues and prevent equipment failureRepair and maintain plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and drainageTroubleshoot and perform basic electrical repairs (e.g., lighting, outlets, minor wiring)Maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systemsComplete basic carpentry tasks such as repairing structures, doors, and fixturesRespond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairsEnsure compliance with safety standards and company policiesMaintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and working conditionsDocument maintenance activities, repairs, and inspectionsAccurately and promptly record completed work, materials used, and any issues encounteredSupport continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and product qualityMaintain Safety training videosAdditional duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required1–3 years of general maintenance experience (industrial or plant environment preferred)Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systemsAbility to read manuals, blueprints, and technical documentsValid driver's license (if required for the role)Relevant certifications (e.g., HVAC, electrical) are a plusProficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measurement instrumentsStrong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanshipStrong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot minor assembly issuesKey CompetenciesMechanical aptitudeAbility to work independently and as part of a teamTime management, record keeping and ability to prioritize effectivelyTeam-oriented mindset with good communication skillsStrong work ethic and reliabilitySafety-conscious with knowledge of workplace safety standards and proceduresPhysical RequirementsAbility to Stand and Walk for extended periods of timeAbility to lift and carry/move up to 50 lbs.Frequent needs to: climb, crawl, push, pull, lift, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, speak, hear, visually inspect work, rotate arms at various angles, reach overhead, reach at or below shoulder level, gross, fine manipulation to operate hand and power tools, etc.Ability to work in confined spacesWork in an environment with exposure to noise at levels not requiring ear protection, chemicals, and dust.
