Cook Chef

We are seeking a full time eveing Cook to join our dedicated kitchen staff! You will assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals in our professional kitchen. If you don't have experience, that's okay. If you don't already have knowledge, we will help you get it; slicing, dicing, mandolins, deli slicing, par frying, blanching, and if interested, sous vide and other techniques.

Pay includes an equal share of digital tips based on the tips of sales during hours worked, and an equal share of cash tips based on total hours worked over 2 week periods. MCC can reimburse for brand new "reasonably priced" ergonmic and non-stick shoes(just ask in advance before purchasing for confirmation, no hard black and white line, but can be relatively flexible).

Availability:
***MUST*** be available for late night Friday (~5pm until almost 3am) and late night Saturday (~5pm until almost 3am). We can guarantee 35 hours per week near 40 with those hours, plus Sunday night and Tuesday night, Thursday night optional.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook all served food
• Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours
• Memorize, record, and comprehend menu items, abbreviations, plate appearance, and portions
• Follow standard recipes and special diet orders
• Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
• Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and appliances
• Perform opening, closing, and preparation checklists
• Peform inventory checks and record needed ingredients

• Ability to take constructive input and feedback impersonally, and learn, grow, and improve
• Interest in cooking, culinary arts, or related fields

We are one of the oldest chess clubs in the United States, and our past members and visitors have included national and even world champions – but you don’t have to be a Grandmaster to play. Beginners and experts alike are welcome to join us for casual games as well as serious matches. Our state-of-the art tournament hall hosts events on weekends and weekday evenings. Boards, pieces, and all other equipment are provided, and members can always find a friendly game and historic inspiration in our beautiful cafe and mezzanine.
