Field Merchandiser
Job Description
The Mission
We don’t move boxes; we move value. In the resale market, the difference between a $5,000 pallet and a $50,000 pallet isn't just the manifest—it’s the person standing at the head of the line.
As our Field Merchandiser, you are the gatekeeper. You are the bridge between the Product Owner’s high-level strategy and the physical reality of the warehouse floor. You aren't just managing a process; you’re managing a legacy team of veterans who have been in the game for 10+ years. If you don’t have the eye to spot a defect on a 'Grade A' return at a glance, or if you’re afraid to get dust on your boots while digging through a fresh pallet of overstock, this isn't the seat for you.
The Daily Hustle
- Executing the Vision: You take the Product Owner’s strategy and make it a reality. When the "buy" changes, you pivot the floor instantly—updating SKUs, re-configuring bins, and ensuring every sorter knows exactly what the new priority is.
- Real-Time Valuation: You are the "Human Algorithm." You’ll eyeball raw inventory from un-manifested buys and instantly categorize it by brand relevance, condition, and resale velocity.
- WMS Orchestration & Accuracy: You live in ShipHero. You ensure inventory integrity after the sort—no mis-throws, no mis-counts, and zero "ghost inventory." Every label is crisp, and every SKU is synced.
- Assortment Control: You have the tactical intuition to decide when a high-value item needs a deep SKU to separate it from the pack, ensuring we control the assortment quality in every outgoing order.
- The Feedback Loop: You work hand-in-hand with the Product Owner to maximize ROI. If the inventory quality shifts, you’re the first to provide the "boots on the ground" data needed to adjust our buying or sorting methods.
- Managing the Vets: You’re leading a team that has been here a decade. You won't win them over with a PowerPoint; you’ll win them over by being the fastest, smartest sorter in the room.
- High-Impact Versatility: When active sorting is complete, you switch gears to protect the bottom line. You will jump into inventory audits and stagnant stock management to ensure no capital is sitting idle on the shelves.
Who You Are
- Reseller DNA: You’ve flipped items on the side or spent years in high-volume returns. You know the "feel" of quality and can spot a "B-grade" write-off from ten feet away.
- The "Pivot" Specialist: You don't get flustered when priorities shift. You can re-align a sorting line and update WMS bin logic mid-shift without breaking a sweat.
- Bilingual Powerhouse: English and Spanish fluency preffered. You need to give clear direction and build a culture on a floor where Spanish is the primary language of production.
- ShipHero Power User: You understand WMS workflows, barcode logic, and how to maintain SKU integrity in a high-speed environment.
-
Respect-Earned Leader: You lead from the front. You’re willing to dive into a bin of mixed goods to show the team exactly what the Product Owner expects.
Why You’ll Love This Role
- Strategic Freedom: You aren't just following a manual. You have the authority to make calls on the fly to protect our margins and control assortment.
- No Red Tape: If you see a way to make the sort more accurate or a SKU more effective, execute it.
- The Crew: You’re working with a tenured, loyal team that takes pride in their work. Once you earn their respect, they are the best in the business.
- Direct Impact: You make the product "real." Without you, the Product Owner’s vision is just a spreadsheet; with you, it’s a profitable reality.
The Requirements
- 3+ Years in a high-volume warehouse leadership role (Logistics/3PL/Returns/Overstock).
- Expert Knowledge of brands, garment grading, and the current secondary market landscape.
- Technical Literacy: High proficiency in ShipHero (or similar WMS like Logiwa/Linnworks).
- Detail Obsession: A "zero-mistake" mentality regarding labels, counts, and bin locations.
- Physicality: Ability to stand for long shifts and move inventory as needed.
