About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Benefits & Compensation Manager to lead the company’s benefits and compensation programs supporting approximately 1,100 employees nationwide.

This is a hands-on functional leadership role for a true Benefits & Compensation professional. The position is responsible for the day-to-day management and continuous improvement of compensation, health and welfare benefits, retirement programs, leave administration, compliance, analytics, and employee communications.

The role also provides leadership to a small team of two and offers an excellent opportunity for a strong Senior Benefits or Compensation professional ready to take the next step into management.

**This is not an HR Generalist role. The ideal candidate must have have deep, hands-on focused expertise specifically concentrated within benefits and compensation.**

What You’ll Do

  • Own the administration and ongoing management of compensation and employee benefits programs.
  • Lead compensation benchmarking, salary structures, market analysis, job evaluations, pay equity, and annual compensation planning.
  • Manage self-funded health and welfare programs, including vendor relationships, renewals, claims/utilization analysis, and cost-containment initiatives.
  • Oversee the company’s 401(k) program, including vendor management, audits, and compliance.
  • Manage FMLA, disability, leave programs, and related third-party administration.
  • Lead annual Open Enrollment and develop clear, effective employee communications.
  • Develop compensation and benefits reporting, analytics, and recommendations for leadership.
  • Monitor regulatory requirements and ensure benefits and compensation programs remain compliant.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, costs, and the overall employee experience.
  • Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance, and business leadership on compensation and benefits initiatives.
  • Serve as the organization’s internal subject matter expert for benefits and compensation.
  • Lead, coach, and develop two direct reports: Benefits Specialist and Benefits Assistant.
  • Utilize UKG and other HR technology to improve data integrity, reporting, administration, and processes.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of progressive, hands-on benefits and/or compensation experience.
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits, compensation practices, and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Experience managing self-funded health and welfare plans strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with compensation benchmarking, salary structures, market analysis, job evaluation, and pay equity.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Experience with an HRIS and benefits administration platform; UKG experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing benefit vendors, consultants, and third-party administrators.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with employees and leadership.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience preferred, but high-performing Senior Benefits/Compensation professionals ready for their first management opportunity are encouraged to apply.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • CEBS, CCP, CBP, or similar certification is a plus.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to own the Benefits & Compensation function within a growing organization rather than splitting your time across broad HR responsibilities.

You’ll have meaningful ownership of compensation strategy, employee benefits, retirement, compliance, analytics, and vendor management while leading a small team and partnering directly with key areas of the business.

If your background is primarily Benefits and Compensation and you’re ready for a role with greater ownership and leadership responsibility, this could be an excellent next step.
