Overview

An Early Childhood Educator supports the learning, development, and well‑being of young children, typically from ages 0–5. This role focuses on creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that fosters social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement age‑appropriate lessons and activities
  • Support children’s social and emotional development
  • Observe, document, and assess children's progress
  • Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment
  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers
  • Encourage positive behavior and conflict‑resolution skills
  • Collaborate with staff to support overall program goals
  • Ensure compliance with licensing and safety regulations
Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of child development and early learning principles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
  • Ability to manage groups of young children
  • Creativity in planning educational activities
  • Basic record‑keeping and documentation skills
Education & Experience

  • Certificate, diploma, or degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent)
  • CPR and First Aid certification (often required)
  • Experience working with young children in a care or educational setting
