Pay: $45.00 - $52.00 / hour (Weekly Pay)

Location: Upper Marlboro, MD (Serving DC/MD Region)

About the Role Ellington Mechanical is seeking a Senior Commercial HVAC Installation & Service Technician to handle a 50/50 split of installation and service across commercial and multifamily properties in the DC/MD area. You will take complete ownership of systems—from installation and piping to startup, commissioning, and long-term troubleshooting.


What You’ll Do

  • Install, commission, troubleshoot, and repair commercial RTUs, split systems, VRF/VRV, and controls (up to 20+ tons).
  • Perform brazing with nitrogen, pressure testing, evacuation (verifying micron levels), and refrigerant charging.
  • Read mechanical plans, submittals, and low-voltage wiring diagrams independently.
  • Diagnose complex electrical, airflow, and controls issues without constant supervision.


What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: 8–10+ years of commercial HVAC installation and service experience.
  • Certifications: EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
  • Skills: Proven ability to perform system startups, commissioning, and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Requirements: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops.


Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

  • Journeyman HVAC License
  • VRF/VRV startup and service experience
  • OSHA 10/30 or Lift Certification
  • Experience with Havtech or comparable commercial equipment
