Position Summary
Trifecta Team LLC is seeking an experienced and dependable Asbestos Abatement Supervisor to oversee asbestos abatement projects and field personnel.
The Asbestos Abatement Supervisor is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of asbestos abatement projects from initial site setup through final cleanup and demobilization. This position provides direct supervision of asbestos workers, coordinates daily field activities, maintains required project documentation, and ensures work is performed in accordance with company procedures, project specifications, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who understands asbestos abatement procedures, maintains high safety standards, communicates effectively with employees and management, and can keep projects moving efficiently while maintaining regulatory compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project & Crew Supervision
- Direct and supervise asbestos abatement workers and field personnel.
- Conduct daily jobsite meetings and communicate work assignments, production goals, hazards, and safety requirements.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and supplies necessary to complete assigned work.
- Monitor employee performance, productivity, attendance, and compliance with company policies.
- Maintain an organized and professional jobsite.
- Communicate project progress, manpower needs, problems, and schedule concerns to the Project Manager or Operations Manager.
- Coordinate field activities with building owners, general contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and other project representatives as required.
- Ensure work is performed according to project specifications and the established scope of work.
- Identify potential change-order work or conditions outside the original project scope and immediately communicate them to management.
- Assist field personnel with abatement activities when necessary.
Asbestos Abatement Operations
- Supervise the setup, operation, maintenance, and removal of regulated asbestos work areas.
- Ensure proper installation and maintenance of critical barriers, polyethylene containment systems, decontamination units, negative-pressure enclosures, and other engineering controls.
- Verify negative air machines, HEPA filtration equipment, and other required equipment are properly installed and operating.
- Ensure asbestos-containing materials are adequately wetted and removed using approved work practices.
- Oversee proper handling, packaging, labeling, storage, and disposal preparation of asbestos-containing waste.
- Ensure proper worker and equipment decontamination procedures are followed.
- Monitor containment integrity and work-area conditions throughout the project.
- Coordinate cleanup activities and preparation of work areas for visual inspections and final clearance testing.
- Immediately address any breach of containment, equipment failure, unsafe condition, or other project emergency.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable OSHA, EPA, state, local, and project-specific asbestos regulations and requirements.
- Enforce company Health & Safety Plan requirements and project-specific safety procedures.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and toolbox talks as required.
- Ensure employees properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and protective clothing.
- Verify employees entering regulated asbestos work areas have current training, medical clearance, respirator clearance, and fit testing as required.
- Enforce respiratory protection requirements and proper respirator use.
- Conduct routine inspections of work areas, equipment, ladders, scaffolding, electrical systems, and other jobsite conditions.
- Immediately correct unsafe work practices and conditions.
- Report injuries, incidents, near misses, property damage, and regulatory concerns to management.
- Participate in incident investigations when required.
- Maintain a professional and compliant work environment during regulatory, consultant, owner, or third-party inspections.
Project Documentation
- Complete and maintain accurate daily project documentation.
- Maintain worker sign-in/sign-out records and regulated-area entry logs.
- Document daily manpower and hours worked.
- Maintain negative-pressure and equipment inspection logs as required.
- Maintain respiratory protection and PPE documentation as applicable.
- Document quantities of material removed and project production.
- Maintain waste shipment records and coordinate waste manifests as required.
- Document project conditions with photographs when appropriate.
- Maintain records of safety meetings, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Ensure required permits, notifications, licenses, employee certifications, and project documentation are available at the jobsite.
- Submit daily reports, timecards, receipts, equipment records, and other required paperwork to the office in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Required
- Current asbestos supervisor/contractor certification as required by the state or jurisdiction where work is performed.
- Previous experience performing asbestos abatement work.
- Knowledge of asbestos abatement methods, containment construction, negative-pressure systems, decontamination procedures, respiratory protection, and asbestos waste handling.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA asbestos requirements and applicable state regulations.
- Ability to supervise and direct field personnel.
- Ability to read and understand project specifications, work plans, drawings, and scopes of work.
- Ability to complete jobsite reports and required regulatory documentation accurately.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, project management, clients, consultants, and other contractors.
- Ability to work varying schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime when project conditions require.
Preferred
- Minimum 3–5 years of asbestos abatement experience.
- Previous experience as an Asbestos Supervisor, Foreman, or similar field leadership position.
- OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience with demolition, selective demolition, lead abatement, mold remediation, or other environmental remediation work.
- Experience operating forklifts, aerial lifts, skid steers, or other construction equipment.
- Experience supervising multiple crews or larger commercial/industrial abatement projects.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to perform physically demanding construction and asbestos abatement work, including:
- Wearing a respirator and protective clothing for extended periods.
- Working inside regulated and negatively pressurized containment areas.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Climbing ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.
- Bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and working overhead.
- Lifting and carrying materials and equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
- Working in hot, cold, humid, dusty, and otherwise physically demanding environments.
- Working at heights and in confined or restricted work areas when required.
Employees must remain medically qualified and capable of wearing respiratory protection as required by applicable regulations and company policy.
