Job Description

Medical Assistant – Rheumatology (4-Day Workweek | Specialty Practice)

We are a well-established, physician-led rheumatology practice seeking a high-performing Medical Assistant who takes pride in precision, efficiency, and patient-centered care.

This role is ideal for an experienced MA who wants more than a routine clinic job—you’ll work closely with the physician, manage complex chronic-care patients, and play a key role in medication coordination and care continuity.

If you are detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable operating with a high level of responsibility, this is a standout opportunity in a stable, specialty practice setting.

Schedule

  • Full-time (40 hours/week)
  • 4-day workweek (Monday–Thursday)
  • Fridays off | No weekends | No evenings

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Specialty experience (Rheumatology) – highly valuable for long-term career growth
  • Autonomy & physician collaboration – not a “task-only” MA role
  • Consistent 4-day schedule with built-in 3-day weekends
  • Established workflows & patient base
  • Meaningful patient relationships in chronic disease management

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform patient intake, vitals, and detailed history collection
  • Obtain Medication prior authorization and outside imaging authorizations
  • Assisting patients with patient assistance forms
  • Document accurately and efficiently in EHR systems
  • Manage medication prior authorizations (a critical component of this role)
  • Coordinate patient care, follow-ups, and provider communication
  • Maintain organized, compliant medical records
  • Ensure smooth patient flow and clinic efficiency

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 1+ year of Medical Assistant experience (required)
  • Strong EHR proficiency and documentation accuracy (eClinicalWorks experience preferred)
  • Experience with prior authorizations and specialty medications preferred
  • Excellent clinical judgment, organization, and time management
  • Ability to anticipate provider needs and work independently
  • Professional, calm, and patient-focused communication style

Benefits

  • Simple IRA with employer matching upto 3%
  • Paid Time Off: 11 PTO days + 6 paid holidays (after 90 days of employment)
  • Stable, predictable full-time schedule

Note: Health insurance is not offered.

Work Location

In-person

How This Role Is Different

This is not a high-turnover, entry-level MA position. We are looking for someone who:

  • Takes ownership of their role
  • Understands the importance of accuracy in specialty care
  • Wants to grow within a practice—not just rotate through one
  • Dependable and reliable daily
