Position Overview
This position manages environmental, health and safety activities, offering direction plant-wide. The
position will ensure absolute compliance with all EH&S policies and procedures. This position will also
provide leadership and guidance on continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Establish and communicate EHS goals, develop strategies and tactics to ensure a safe and
healthy workplace for everyone.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive written safety standards, policies, procedures, and
guidelines that align with industry regulations and best practices.
• Regularly monitor and update leadership of changing EHS requirements, update safety
practices and documentation to reflect changes in regulations, industry best practices, and
company requirements.
• Design and implement training programs to educate employees on safety standards, policies,
procedures, and guidelines.
• Responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with governmental regulations related to
the following areas: Title five air permit, Wastewater, Ground water, and Storm water.
• Manage the facility leadership & employee safety programs, including the plant safety
committee, safety awareness and incentive programs.
• Conduct regular EHS inspections and audits.
• Oversee site incident and injury reporting, investigation, and recordkeeping. Assist in the
management of worker’s compensation claims and the Return-to-Work program.
• Manage the site EHS corrective and preventive actions to ensure timely follow-up and
implementation.
• Ensure the timely completion of all required safety, environmental and sustainability reporting to
external agencies. Maintain the site EHS recordkeeping program.
• Evaluate and procure safety equipment as needed.
Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Safety, Environment, or other related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Current compliance with required ongoing EHS training, minimum 40 hours per year.
• A minimum of five years of EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of computers is necessary to work with spreadsheets, word processing, and
email; including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Excellent written and verbal skills will be required to communicate with all levels of the facility
and company.
• Ability to gather, comprehend and screen/analyze information in a variety of media (regulations,
bulletins, research, etc.) and disseminate to management, supervisors, employees, etc. in
suitable ways such as training, memos, reports, presentations, etc.
• Ability to assess and investigate situations in order to recommend corrections or improvements
to site systems and environment based on interpretation of standards.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
• Primary work environment is an office setting, however occasionally will enter the plant
environment
• When in the plant environment, employee may be exposed to moderate to high noise levels,
moving mechanical parts and/or to chemicals used in the process
• Humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat and cold, possible
dusty, damp, or wet conditions.
• Personal Protective Equipment such as safety glasses, steel toed boots, flame resistant clothing
and hearing protection may be required
• Regularly required to walk, sit, talk and listen.
• Mostly sedentary, some light lifting of files, supplies or equipment is required.
• The employee will be required to do some walking/climbing stairs and occasional use of ladders
