Job Description

Nurse Practitioner – Orthopedic, Injury & General Medical Care

SMPL Health is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to join our growing team. We specialize in the evaluation and treatment of patients who have sustained injuries related to motor vehicle accidents, with a focus on musculoskeletal injuries, orthopedic evaluation, pain management, and overall patient health.

While the majority of our patients are seen for injury-related care, our providers also encounter a variety of general medical symptoms and conditions. This allows our Nurse Practitioners to utilize a broad range of clinical assessment and diagnostic skills while developing or expanding their expertise in musculoskeletal and injury care.

We welcome both experienced Nurse Practitioners and motivated new graduates. Experience in orthopedics, pain management, physical medicine, primary care, urgent care, or emergency medicine is valued but not required. For providers newer to this area of medicine, training and support will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients with acute and ongoing musculoskeletal complaints following motor vehicle accidents
  • Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations, including specialized orthopedic and neurological examinations
  • Evaluate general medical symptoms and conditions identified during patient visits
  • Utilize strong clinical and differential-diagnosis skills when assessing patients
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on examination findings, symptoms, diagnostic results, and patient progress
  • Order and review appropriate diagnostic imaging, including X-rays and MRIs
  • Recommend, prescribe, and monitor appropriate non-narcotic medications
  • Perform trigger point and joint injections; training can be provided
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans when clinically appropriate
  • Coordinate care with specialists when indicated
  • Collaborate with our chiropractic and clinical teams to provide comprehensive, coordinated patient care
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation

Qualifications

  • Active and unrestricted Arizona Nurse Practitioner license
  • Clinical experience is valued but not required; qualified new graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Interest in musculoskeletal, orthopedic, physical medicine, injury care, and general medicine
  • Willingness to learn specialized orthopedic examinations and injection procedures
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment while maintaining high-quality patient care
  • Dependable, organized, professional, and team-oriented
  • Comfortable learning and working within an electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required
