Job Description

The Director of Engineering leads Team Grateful's technical infrastructure, systems, and engineering operations, ensuring that all technology platforms, tools, and operational systems support the organization's programs and mission effectively and securely. This role is essential to building a reliable, modern, and scalable technology foundation that enables Team Grateful to serve its community with excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all technology infrastructure, hardware, software, and systems used across the organization.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with organizational goals and long-term growth.
  • Manage cybersecurity protocols, risk assessments, and data protection practices to safeguard organizational and participant information.
  • Supervise technical staff and coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and technology partners.
  • Lead systems integration projects and technology upgrades to improve functionality and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations, including applicable federal and state requirements.
  • Develop and manage the engineering and technology budget responsibly and strategically.
  • Provide technical support, training, and guidance to staff across all departments.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies that improve operational efficiency and program delivery.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all systems, processes, and technical procedures.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in technology leadership or engineering management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing IT infrastructure, systems administration, and technical teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and data protection standards.

Preferred

  • Master's degree or relevant certifications (PMP, CompTIA, CISSP, or equivalent).
  • Experience with technology environments and mission-driven organizations.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or similar).
